Presentation

The desire to learn colors came to me at the end of the 90s, when I discovered the hyperrealistic paintings that a friend was doing in pastels. Apply a stick of pastel on a paper support: you will want to put your fingers on the paper, to mix the colors, then the magic happens! the shades appear, the shadows give depth, the whites relief... The pure pigments at the fingertips with very evocative names overlap, rub shoulders: Prussian Blue meets Titanium White which can be attenuated by the Land of Sienna.

Self-taught and curious by nature, attracted by this subtle art of photorealism, I chose from the start the pastel which allows to transcribe certain textures more faithfully but also to give this velvety aspect to the skin.

Some of my works, in particular a trompe l'oeil from nature, are made in oil or acrylic, the brush is another approach and this technique allowed me to discover something different, in particular with the management of drying times and the contribution of material far removed from pastel.

Today, the vast majority of my paintings and more particularly the portraits are made with sticks or pastel pencils of different brands. For small formats up to 700 x 1000 mm, I work on Pastelmat from Clairefontaine, beyond that, I prepare 10 mm MDF wooden supports coated with a "homemade" primer.

This booklet presents some of my work since my beginnings in 1998.
