Biography

Luca Matti (1964, Florence, Italy) lives and works in Florence. Luca Matti began his academic formation as a cartoonist and as an illustrator to then intensely dedicate himself to painting from 1988. His body of work revolves around issues of the Modern Era: a relationship of the humankind as a spectator of cities that expand themselves in a perpetual vortex. The coexistence of different styles, such as comics, drawings, paintings, engravings and the usage of black and white contributes to give his works a one-of-a-kind unique character.

Luca Matti has displayed his works in solo exhibitions: La poesia latetente degli oggetti at Fondazione Mudima, Milan, Italy, 2001; Babele at Galleria Frittelli, Florence, Italy, 2007; Nuovimondi at CAMec, La Spezia, Italy, and in 2019 created an installation for the renowned fashion brand Patrizia Pepe. He has collaborated with the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs participating in group exhibitions in Rome, Brussels and in several cities in India. He has also exhibited his works in group shows at the Slovenian Ministry of Culture in Bratislava in 2012, in Bludenz in 2016, in Austria and in Knokke, Belgium, in 2017 and in China. In 2004 he has participated at the XIV Quadriennale in Rome.
