Najib Cherradi

Najib multidisciplinary artist, was born in Morocco in the city of Salé, in a family of musicians. His mother introduced him to the symbolism of signs and the arrangement of colors. Since 1973, he has devoted himself seriously to his visual, scenic and musical art. From this same year dates his obsession with the revival in music which continues even today. In his journey, he devoted a lot of time to the search for a "new way in Arab music" as well as on the plastic level a work of research and reflection on "The invisibility of the emotion in painting and its vibrations ".

Training

1978/1986 - University studies in Paris VIII (sociology-philosophy-cinema. Free auditor in Musicology and Plastic Arts.

1987 - Creation of the musical ensemble Weshm.

1989/1991 - Internship and work at the "Grafische Atelier in Utrecht" (specialty: screen printing.

2000 to 2004 awarded a structural subsidy to the Dutch Ministry of Culture.

From 2008 to 2012 - Singing lessons of the "Lichtenberg voor zang" method

2015 - Ceramics course with the sculptor, Judith Heinsohn at A'dam

Artistic production

Since 1980, he has worked with several artists from different backgrounds and disciplines including, among others, directors such as: J.Simons, P. Koek, T. Jbali,; choreographers: SL Cherkaoui, O.Rajeh; composers: M. Waisvisz, W. Hendrix; directors: N. Bouzid, H. Lagzouli. He has created several music-theater works from texts by Arab poets such as Al Hallaj, Al Nifari Al Mâari, Ibn Arabi, Jalal Dine Roumi, Abou Nawass, Wallada, A. Adonis, M. Darwisch, S. El Kacem, E. El Anssari, among others.

He has performed several times: at the Stijdelijk muséum in Adam; Mukha museum in Antwerpen; Central museum in Utrecht; Odeon Theater in Paris. He has produced several installations and painting exhibitions in different spaces and cities in Morocco and in Europe. Among the awards received, it is noted: the Muhr Award Best Composer at the International Film Festival in Dubai - 2007; Celebration of the birthday of Her Majesty Queen Beatrix, at the Palace, Noordeinde in Denhaag. NL- in 2004. Critical work, about the painting of the Swiss painter, Lony Strub; "Poetry of the line" - in 2010. A work of research, and reflection, on "the invisibility of the emotional in painting and its vibrations", still in progress since 2000.
