In Sea of Feathers, Vero González Ugarte presents a body of work inspired by the intimate contemplation of the marine landscape and the close observation of the natural elements within it. The sea, feathers, corals, and marine botanicals emerge as fragments of a constantly shifting territory, where matter, movement, and memory delicately intertwine.
The exhibition brings together works created primarily with paper and silk, materials central to González Ugarte’s practice. Cut, shaped, layered, and assembled by hand, they form intricate organic surfaces that evoke ocean currents, natural accumulations, and elements suspended in motion.
The exhibition also includes soft-ground prints on linen, enriched with feathers and delicate fragments of paper and silk, creating a dialogue between printmaking, textile, and relief. Alongside these works are paintings inspired by different landscapes and natural ecosystems, where close observation of nature is transformed into textures, gestures, and imagined cartographies.
Rather than literally depicting the marine world, Mar de Plumas invites contemplation of lightness, fragility, movement, and the quiet beauty of natural processes. Each work becomes a kind of organic trace—a small ecosystem patiently constructed through repetition, time, and attentive observation.
