Description
A female silhouette is drawn with a singular softness. The bare back is exposed in a palette of pink and ochre tones. The flesh seems to absorb the light. At the top, a dense, curly hair blooms into a dark whirlwind. The line is free. The whole rests on a graphic base composed of colored horizontal lines. These touches of red and blue contrast with the neutral background of the support. The technique favors transparency and fluidity. The gaze focuses on the fragility of the body and the sensuality of the pose. The approach is in line with an impressionist tradition. The composition plays on the balance between the precision of the contour and the blur of the flat areas. Each nuance emphasizes the subject's psychology. The final rendering offers an intimate and serene vision. A discreet signature and the date close the composition at the bottom of the page.
Presentation
An English teacher by profession, Paris-based Isabelle Hirtzig began her career as an artist through the medium of watercolor. Through her light touch of the paintbrush, she is able to capture much emotive feeling. Her work depicts scenes based on subjects as diverse as flowers, Parisian scenes, landscapes, animals and portraiture. Her focus remains on the psyche and art—its sensuality and softness are perfectly accentuated through the watercolor medium.
