While i'm here | Expressive Figurative Drawing About Stillness, 2026

Alina Razmakhnina

A female figure emerges from a delicate interplay of charcoal marks, muted colors, and loosely drawn contours. Her silhouette seems to merge with the surrounding space, as though she is gradually becoming part of the atmosphere around her. Soft gray-brown, dusty green, and warm ochre tones overlap across the white paper, creating a composition that feels intimate, unfinished, and quietly alive.

While i'm here explores the rare moment when the outside world grows quiet and a person becomes fully present with herself. The woman might be gazing through a window, remembering something meaningful, or simply allowing her thoughts to wander. Her surroundings remain undefined, leaving space for viewers to recognize their own experiences of solitude and reflection.

The combination of compressed charcoal, colored pencils, and oil pastel gives the artwork its distinctive visual character. Dense, textured passages alternate with delicate lines and untouched paper, while the figure appears and disappears between layers of expressive marks. This deliberate openness captures the fleeting nature of a moment that cannot be fully explained or preserved.

There is no need for action or resolution here. The artwork celebrates the quiet significance of simply being present, offering a thoughtful reminder that even the most ordinary pause can hold emotional depth.
