Description
This captivating work features a spectacular assemblage of folded papers forming a dynamic circle evoking a swirl of autumn leaves. The shades of orange tones blend skillfully with touches of deep brown, creating a fascinating sense of movement and depth. Each fold is executed with precision, lending a rich texture and striking relief to the three-dimensional composition. This immaculate framing perfectly frames the piece, accentuating its vibrant and energetic character. The artist demonstrates an impressive mastery of the art of folding, transforming paper into a sculpture that challenges and enchants. This work invites contemplation and an unreserved admiration for the precision and harmony of forms and colors. A work that defies the conventions of paper to transcend into an immersive visual experience.
Presentation
Born in 1977 in Hô-Chi-Minh-City, Vietnam, Olivier Messas is a painter living between France and Germany. After moving to France from Vietnam at the age of two, he quickly developed an independent character while remaining attached to his family and cultural values.
Initially orientated towards studies in accounting, Messas did not find satisfaction in this path and turned to fashion and styling before finally finding his true mode of expression in painting. His art, a subtle blend of realism and spirituality, draws inspiration from his many travels and encounters with different cultures. He distinguishes himself through vivid colors and clean lines, representing a balance between his emotions and his cultural heritage.
Olivier Messas regularly exhibits his work in Europe and Asia, and has received numerous awards, including the "Peinture & Sculpture" prize at the Salon International d'Art Contemporain in Saint-Tropez in 2016. His work is recognized for its ability to create unique atmospheres and moods, making him an artist appreciated for sharing and meeting with the public.
For Messas, artistic creation is an escape from the real world and a way of expressing his imagination and creative impulses. His work aims to strike a coloristic and structural balance, while conveying his impressions and intuitions through harmonious, evocative compositions.
