Description
Two presences, one shared origin.
Twin Souls is a contemplative work about the balance between determination and sensitivity. Yusa Widiana uses a natural red clay mixture to create an earthy, textured field, where gold-toned and silver-toned triangles meet within the presence of a larger dark brown form.
The gold-toned triangle has a substantial, tactile surface, anchored by three rounded corner accents. Its silver-toned companion appears lighter and more delicate. Their different positions and textures create a subtle exchange, while fine lines suggest a continuing connection.
The artist calls these forms Dulur Kembar: twins born from the same womb. The larger triangle represents Buana, their common origin. Gold embodies Will, while silver embodies Feeling.
Widiana connects this relationship with the masculine and feminine qualities within the self. In his interpretation, they must move together to reach a shared summit. The painting invites reflection on how resolve and receptivity can sustain one another.
Warm terracotta, ochre and brown provide a restrained setting for the two luminous forms. Their contrast gives the composition an intimate presence, encouraging close attention to material, difference and connection.

Presentation
Yusa Widiana is an Indonesian contemporary artist whose practice connects painting, cultural identity and community life. Born in 1971 in Purwakarta, he lives and works in Tasikmalaya, West Java. He holds a degree in Fine Arts Education from Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI), Bandung.
Working in oil, watercolor and mixed media, as well as murals, Widiana explores the meeting of local heritage and contemporary urban experience. Hybrid identity is central to his approach: the ways traditions, places and everyday encounters shape who we become.
His movement between studio painting and public art allows him to explore different relationships with the viewer. A painting invites a personal encounter; a mural enters a space shared by many. Across these formats, his work maintains a close connection with the communities and cultural environments around him.
His solo exhibitions include Babak Baru, GLOCAL, Nature and Gotong Royong Reborn. He has also participated in group exhibitions in Germany, Singapore, Japan, Thailand, China and the United Arab Emirates, alongside numerous presentations in Indonesia.
His national exhibition history includes Galeri Soemardja, Galeri Popo Iskandar, Galeri Nasional Indonesia and Bentara Budaya, Yogyakarta. He received second place in a West Java provincial painting competition and contributed to teams awarded first place in regional mural competitions.
Widiana's practice offers an evolving conversation between individual expression and shared experience, bringing Indonesian cultural perspectives into a broader contemporary dialogue.
