Description
Riding the metro late into the Berlin nights, Mario Tarantino came to know those carriages that empty out, when for a few brief stops the city falls into a hush. Amongst his earlier works and part of his Streetism series, the photograph wraps one symmetrical reality around another, made of letters on paper.
Framed with cinematic clarity, this minimalist image gathers the iconic Berlin U-Bahn carriage into an arrangement of clean lines and a single point of focus. Its calm is the surprise, a settled, unhurried atmosphere inside a setting typically consumed by the relentless rush of the city.
This black and white fine art photograph is giclée printed with archival pigment inks on Hahnemühle Photo Rag, a 308gsm acid and lignin-free 100% cotton paper, giving the deep shadows and the bright tubes of light a smooth matte surface to settle into. Working alongside a master printer, Mario oversees every stage with exhibition-grade care.
Limited to an edition of 10 fine art prints, each piece is individually inspected, titled, numbered and hand-signed by Mario Tarantino, and accompanied by a signed and stamped certificate of authenticity
Presentation
Mario Tarantino's distinctive contemporary photography is expressed through his use of negative space, minimalist compositions, and striking contrasts. His relentless pursuit of the surreal allows him to transform the ordinary into the extraordinary, creating captivating visuals that offer moments of aesthetic escapism. Working primarily in monochrome, his images are bold yet balanced, creating a visual language that has earned him numerous international awards, including multiple recognitions as Photographer of the Year.
Exhibited in cities such as Tokyo, Budapest, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, and Athens, his work has reached a global audience while also becoming part of both corporate and private collections worldwide. His artistic vision resonates strongly with photography collectors who seek not only technical excellence but the ability of an image to linger, to suggest, and to evoke.
His artistic perspective unfolds across three main genres—architecture, landscape, and street photography each approached in a purist manner, using minimal elements in seeking to capture the sublime through simplicity. Much of his work is created under low light conditions, where the soft illumination gives rise to evocative imagery with a futuristic atmosphere that has become his hallmark.
His fascination with the interplay of light and shadow, texture, tone, and form is reflected in every piece, revealing his profound love of aesthetic photography. Mario uses his camera as a painter does a brush, not only to capture an image but to convey an idea, an inner vision or share their unique sense of beauty.
