Description
A childlike silhouette crosses a geometric space. Black and white accentuates the rigor of the lines. The composition plays on stark contrasts. The light sculpts the floor and the wall with precision.
The image captures a fleeting moment of daily life. The subject, alone on his small bicycle, seems minuscule against the monumental shadows surrounding him. This staging emphasizes the fragility of childhood in a structured urban environment.
The work on light creates graphic depth. Each shadow area becomes an architectural element in itself. The chromatic sobriety reinforces the timeless aspect of the scene.
This photograph is part of a research on the harmony between the human and their landscape. The vertical framing stabilizes the composition. The work is a limited edition made in 2026.
Presentation
French photographer born in 1982, Fabien Olart discovered photography as a teenager through the photos of Lee Miller, Dorothea Lange and Sebastião Salgado.
After studying communications and image, he became a collaborator with the hemis.fr agency, specializing in tourism and travel. Regularly published in the press (Le Monde, Détours en France, Maxi, Marianne…) as well as in publishing (Gallimard, Hachette, Michelin Edition…), his productions are above all produced in Europe.
Member of the Street Photography France collective, it is in black and white that his sensitivity is most expressed. Attracted by urban life, his work is characterized by spontaneous, highly contrasted photography, playing between light and shadow. The human, often solitary, remains an important element of its production, while being integrated into urban or natural landscapes.
