Description
This vibrant mixed-media sculpture immediately draws the eye with its intense, fiery red high-heeled shoe – a classic symbol, reimagined. But peer closer, and you'll discover a dazzling secret: its entire inner surface and graceful heel are meticulously embellished with shimmering, sharp shards of silver and transparent glass. It sparkles, it gleams, and it makes you think!
This artwork offers a clever, friendly peek into the world of fashion, playfully nudging us to consider what it really means to "look good." It's a nod to the often-unspoken truth that sometimes, achieving that perfect, polished look for women comes with a side of unexpected discomfort. Unlike the "grab-and-go" ease of men's fashion, this piece subtly suggests that true elegance often asks for a little extra endurance. It’s part of the captivating "My Borders" series, inviting viewers to ponder the delicate balance between external beauty and internal strength. An absolutely stunning centerpiece for any contemporary home or office, this artwork makes a truly distinctive gift. It’s perfect for those who adore modern aesthetics and appreciate art that combines breathtaking visuals with a smart, engaging narrative.
This work is part of the series “My borders".
Unlike men's suits and shoes, designed for comfort and movement, women's beauty often demands endurance. To shine, she must suffer. The question remains, why must pain look so graceful?

Presentation
Dizlarka, the artistic name of Leah Larisa Bunshaft, is a multidisciplinary contemporary artist whose practice examines femininity, feminism, motherhood, vulnerability, identity, personal boundaries, and the social structures that shape women's lives.
Working across painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, sculpture, and installation, Dizlarka treats material as an active part of meaning. Textiles, glass, concrete, photographs, found objects, threads, masks, and domestic or bodily references create tensions between protection and exposure, beauty and pressure, fragility and resistance.
Much of her work begins with female experience. She is particularly interested in the roles women are expected to perform — caring, organizing, adapting, nurturing, remaining desirable, absorbing emotional labor — and in how these expectations can become so normalized that they are no longer seen.
Her project My Borders explores personal, psychological, bodily, and social boundaries through a predominantly red visual language. Female figures, threads, masks, heels, and symbolic objects become ways of examining control, autonomy, expectation, and self-definition.
Dizlarka's work does not present vulnerability as the opposite of strength. Instead, the two continually coexist. Personal experience becomes a starting point for questions that extend beyond autobiography: what do we carry because we choose to, and what have we simply been taught to carry?
Her work has been exhibited internationally in the United States and Europe, including presentations at MoRA Museum in New York and museum exhibitions in Italy.
