Self-taught artists Jaime Rubio and Miguel Rey are a pair of Spanish photographers co-producing their work under the name JM, based in Singapore and UK, respectively. They are currently working on the series “Empty Memphis” devoted to capture the beauty of empty spaces all over the city of Memphis, Tennessee.
It constitutes a paradox of material decadence and majesty, a metaphor for audience to think about the relationship between our 21st century society and its most immediate past, very specially the relationship between the American landscape and its history and how this shapes the downtown of a city. Natural light, carefully composed photographs as well as an outstanding attention to detail are the main characteristics of their work.
