Artwork location: Spain

A piece created in Spring of 2023 in Valencia Spain. The painting, which was produced directly on to wood follows on from a large series of paintings begun in 2018. The piece aims to capture both the calm spring warmth in the city and the excitement of the Fallas festival which happens every year at this time. The title means spring dream. A broad range of pinks are set alongside Naples yellow and powder blue to create a warm but balanced composition.

Greg Bryce, Somnium vernus (Fracture XII)
Greg Bryce

Greg Bryce

United Kingdom  • 1986

Valencia and Edinburgh based Fine Artist, Designer and Landscape Architect specialised in painting & drawing, site specific installation and environmental interventions. Work concerns its self with the senses, and a fundamental objective reading of the physical world. Ideas of chaos and infinity are explored alongside the delusional nature of our senses; attempting to consolidate and account for the differences between our first hand experience and that of the microscopic and quantum realms.

Two dimensional work uses personally developed styles which give representational power to colours and forms with a distinct personal language and unique expressive methods using both knives and heavy oil mediums.

Sculptural work exists in direct response to place - often occurring immediately and existing for a brief period.

The most crucial factor in any brief is congruousness; both in concept and materiality. Work has also taken the form of kinetic, sound and performance.

I believe in the necessity of a multi-disciplined approach. Each idea and environment calls for new mediums and a new type of thinking.

Exhibitions and on site responses have taken place widely in the UK and in several venues across mainland Europe and Scandinavia.
