Cira Bhang, Daily Abstractions

From the abstract compositions of Cira Bhang, a lot of tenderness and sweetness emerges. An impression due in part to the pink tones found in many works, some of which are bathed in these colors which stain them with a blissful candor. Similarly, the curves and lines give her paintings a dose of gluttony that can make these canvases look like stacks of pastel candies. As for the titles, they complete this feeling by evoking pink clouds, blue rainbow or garden.

This connection to the visible or imaginary world is not surprising for a work that is nevertheless abstract. The discerning eye can indeed see within these cheerfully colored surfaces like packets of handkerchiefs, armchairs, bits of lace or mirrors. An apparent presence of the figurative in the abstract which is explained by the desire for the artist to illustrate through her paintings her daily life as a woman and wife. Perhaps then these signs are resurgences of what makes Cira Bhang everyday and thus make her works everyday abstractions. What she sees, listens to, feels, experiences throughout the day is deposited there and transformed into surfaces and lines.

The artist then offers us an abstraction that is as colorful as it is inhabited by memories and sensations. Like little bits of herself and her daily life that she transfigures into painting. A diary where she recounts through shapes and colors her encounters and her everyday life. And this in the most generous and appetizing simplicity.
