Pierre François is a French painter, born in 1935 in Sète, he died in 2007.
He settled in Paris to follow a training at the Beaux-Arts where he finally never went. The name of graphic designer wasn’t really known at that time, but it is what Pierre François did as his work for press and publicity.
Above all, Pierre François likes to diversify his supports as soon as he can, from the canvas to the costume, to shutters, postcards or plates...
As a result of many influences (Raoul Dufy, Pierre Soulage, Pablo Picasso, Jean Dubuffet), the work of Pierre François is most of all known for its great sense of figuration, and have marked the mind of many generations of artists, of which the free figuration.
