Presentation
Born in 1960 near the impressionists sceneries of the Seine banks, Nagsoul is a discreet artist who reveals himself as an avatar.
Nagsoul multiplied the artistic and technological experiments throughout the years: drawing, screenprinting, pottery, earthenware, mosaic, painting, photography, experimental video, virtual imaging and even video satellite transmission: the longest way between an image and a retina. For Nagsoul, any visual presentation is energy transfer.
He returns to the pictorial expression with the will to free himself from the traditional tools. No more brushes nor pencils; only the representation by an archaic, founding and experimental approach. Nagsoul does not hesitate. He plays with fire (literally) and water (ink) to rediscover perceived worlds which disappeared but remain in memory as if they were restored from a crashed hard disk.
It is also an act of baptismal purification by the water or by the fire that is presented to us, some sort of conversion in a way. By fading away from the visible, the artist gets us closer to the invisible. A pure act, a gesture cleansed of any ambition, a spiritual exercise which leads to become another, because it is by becoming someone else that we will see things differently.
