Touches, pierces, scratches, marks, penetrates, repairs, flows, bleeds, points, sews up, imprints, heals, protects, defends. I am the thorn woman. This series, in the form of diptychs, deals with the link between inside and outside, between inside and outside of oneself. Black and white photos show body parts with large spines on each limb. They can be, paradoxically, those which pierce and are then vectors of pain. But, like certain plants or animals, they can also be those that protect. “Doesn’t the rose have the thorn as a friend? » The second part of the diptych, composed of stitched anatomical plates, shows the interior of the body. The organs are directly impacted. When the thorns sting and cause pain, the thread seems to drip like blood. When they protect, he is then the one who stitches, who repairs and who heals. Thread and needle are also linked. This series is of course only a metaphor. Protecting yourself, whether physically but especially psychologically, means finding your own defense tool. Just as a body wounded in its flesh will keep the scars deep in its bowels, the same goes for its spirit. We all carry our own thorns, it's up to each of us to see them as benevolent or aggressive. The photos symbolize corporeality, the anatomical plates, the mind.

Fanny Gosse

France  • 1975

After his studies at the Fine Arts of Toulouse and some trips around the world, the painter Jean Attali took him under his wing. Her great freedom of creation, whether in the use of color or objects diverted, allowed her to gain confidence in her and open herself to plasticity. She then joined the studio of Jean-Paul Marcheschi, from whom she was the assistant for a few years. The monumental works on which he works, the requirement he imposes and his great rigor, have this time taught him to theorize and reflect on his series in a more constructed way, whether on form or meaning. Then in 2010, she met the painter, writer and architect Henri Gaudin with whom she collaborated for 12 years.

All these meetings were of great wealth to him. From a human point of view of course, but also in his practice that has constantly evolved. Although painting and photography are at the heart of her work, she also uses objects, writing, video or any material that allows creation. She does not particularly have a favorite subject but likes to observe the banal, the everyday, moments that may seem trivial or uninteresting. It transforms them, puts forward certain details so that what we think we know, what we pass before each day without really paying attention to it, takes a new dimension, a poetry, that the familiar surprises us.

Today, she works alone but she is a member of the Action hybride collective in which she thrives thanks to the diversity of their views, the proliferation of their exchanges and the many projects they carry together.
