
Biography
Recognized as one important figure among the painters from Potosí active during the second half of the 20th century. Erquicia studied at the School of Fine Arts of the University Tomas Frías where he became an instructor after graduating during the 1970s.
He exhibited his works since 1972 at most institutional salons, museums, and galleries, throughout Bolivia, and at galleries in Germany, the USA, Spain, Chile, and Argentina. He received multiple national awards for his paintings during the late seventies and early eighties.
Of note are his watercolors in which he displays and amazing treatment of light and its reflections, while paying great attention to minor details. He manages to create scenes filled with warmth, often using elements of everyday life, which in his hands acquire an aesthetic beauty of their own.
