Biography
Gerard Nicollet was born in 1954 in Tunisia. After a childhood spent in Brittany, France, he a few years, full of adventures, during which he worked various jobs such as: actor, janitor, vegetarian cook. He was also unemployed for a while. Today he lives in Ales, France, where he works as a music librarian.
In parallel, he does research in various musical fields, and in 2004 he published with Editions Alternatives, "Chercheurs de sons" (Researchers of sounds), a book about inventors of musical instruments and musical machines. Very early, he became interested in art brut and its context, and his interest became passion after a visit at the Art Brut Museum in Lausanne.
He has always loved writing and drawing. His plastic works are collages made from various materials (pieces of crates, fabrics, electronic components), and one of his favorite materials is rusty metal. He has recently switched from collage to drawing.
