Presentation

Sculptor of Cévennes origin born in May 68, David Benoît has been teaching digital arts for more than ten years in various schools such as the Ecole Nationale Supérieure d'Architecture de Montpellier, Numériques, etc. It was in the 1990s, while working in a large national company at the cutting edge of 3D technologies, that he began sculpting on computers left free at night by his fellow engineers. A pioneer in his choice of medium, he added clay and wax ten years later. This return to original materials allows him to more easily capture the light on his volumes in order to breathe life into them. His training as an artist began in Paris, but it was only in Montpellier, with Eric Chatalin (student of Charles Auffret 1929-2001), that he found his way. Combining architectural strength and interior life, he then models female and male nudes without neglecting animal sculpture. This is how he made his first medium-format sculpture “Head of Toro I” presented in Arles for the 2009 fair. In 2016, a fervent admirer of Rembrandt Bugatti's work, he made for the centenary of his death, her bust. In 2018, he decided to consider for the first time an exhibition in a salon: Le Salon National des Artistes Animaliers. He then developed an exhibition “Variations sur l'Antique”.
