
Biography
Ronald Ventura is a contemporary Filipino artist born in 1973 in Manila. His abstract pieces combine a hyper-realistic painting style with illustration, graffiti and cartoons, and incorporate symbols from pop culture and the national identity of the Philippines.
Ventura studied at the University of Santo Tomas in Manila graduating with a BFA, and started to develop his artistic style, combining traditional elements of Filipino culture and Japanese art with symbols of American capitalism and Spanish influence, all contributing to an imagery of post-colonial Philippines. He is now considered to be a leading artist of his generation in South-East Asia.
