Biography
Based in Baltimore, Maryland, Amani Lewis graduated from the Maryland Institute College of Art in 2016. Their work beautifully captures the urban experiences of the Black community in Baltimore, through striking and colorful multimedia depictions. From acrylic portraits of Cardi B and Offset, to continuous-line conceptual depictions of pivotal moments in Black history, Lewis demonstrates a keen sensitivity to the social narratives proliferated by mainstream media and pop culture.
Recognized internationally for their work, Amani Lewis's work has featured in both national exhibitions and magazine publications. Their solo exhibition, Amani Lewis: Subjective Nature debuted in 2019 at the American Cultural Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
