Biography

Greg Dickerson is an American contemporary artist known for his tactile, mixed-media paintings on canvas and wood. Born in 1973 in Cleveland, Ohio, he holds a BFA from Edinboro University and an MFA from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. His work merges painting with layered textures, exploring the interaction between material, form, and surface.

Dickerson's process is rooted in immediacy and experimentation. He blends graphic mark-making with fabrics, complex patterns, and bold use of color and line. These compositions often suggest spatial depth and anthropomorphic forms, creating dynamic, abstract works that blur the boundary between sculpture and painting.

Based in Minnesota, Dickerson works from his home studio in St. Michael and teaches as an adjunct professor at both the Minneapolis College of Art and Design and St. Catherine University. He is represented by Matthew Rachman Gallery and has built a strong presence in the contemporary art scene through his distinctive material-driven approach.
