My exhibition consists of highlighting my Island, highlighting my Creoleness and my heritage through my drawings.
My favorite subjects are the heritage sites of my island, where places, animals and objects are represented in a state of suspended decay: between melancholy, relaxation and waiting for the certainty of imminent disappearance.
Immersing myself in my work is like traveling into a world of Creole urban explorers (Urbex).
As if a corrugated iron house, slowly swallowed up by vegetation, had been the temple of a lost civilization through the eyes of a humble commoner.
My paintings are made with Indian ink, gold leaf and ballpoint pen for the most part, an irresistible need to take us to common and ordinary places such as a plant, a trash can, a rusty bed base, an abandoned hut, a stone wall and many other things so beautiful to us!

Imagine it at home
Presentation
I was born, I live and I work on REUNION Island as an artist-author. I started drawing very early. As a child, I tried to copy Boris Vallejo's illustrations. I dream of fine art but on my island there is no art school.
In 1999, an enchanted break for me. My partner's job leads us to live in Paris for a few years, I present my work at the GOBELINS school which opens its doors to me for training in decor and design. I m 35 years old.
Back on my island, I know who I am and what I want to do and be. She obviously becomes my muse, my inspiration, I want to constantly discover her, make her known, contemplate her, save her.
And then COVID arrives and there I crisscross my island, again and again, a ballpoint pen in my pocket, I sketch, photograph... I feast on this incessant spectacle that my island offers me, the abundance, the opulence, the generosity. There a waterfall, there a hut, the pattern of a branch, a perspective, a whole setting to escape.
Today, even modestly installed, I continue to fill in pages between black ballpoint pen, Indian ink and gold leaf, I represent landscapes where nature and vestiges are kings.
I opt for black and white because what I want to remember in these settings is the light and shadow. Don't be too easily caught up in colors and distinguish the richness of contrasts and shapes.
