Welcome to Tampico, the legendary Mexican port where even the waves of the Gulf of Mexico seem to dance salsa! This vibrant city in Tamaulipas, known for its oil but especially for its contagious joie de vivre, is immortalized in this work where resin and acrylic intertwine like dancers on a hot Mexican evening.
Here, the artist captures the very essence of a tropical cocktail that, like the city it bears, knows how to warm hearts and loosen tongues. The unique resin layering technique creates a depth effect that could almost make you believe you are leaning on the bar of a local cantina, where fishermen's stories compete in extravagance with those of oil traders!
This painting is part of a series that celebrates the universality of our shared moments. Whether you are sipping your cocktail on the Malecón in Tampico, in a Parisian café or in a bar in Dakar, the magic works in the same way. After all, a smile has the same meaning in all languages, especially after two or three cocktails!
The light that passes through the layers of resin recalls the reflections of the setting sun on the waters of the Pánuco, while the touches of acrylic dance on the canvas like the inhabitants of Tampico during their famous fiestas. A work that reminds us that, deep down, life is like a good cocktail: it is the mixture that makes it extraordinary!

Several crossings of the Atlantic by sailboat, a year of family adventure from Tierra del Fuego to Alaska... The artist is interested in the roughness of our world and the riches of encounters.
For more than ten years, he has been developing a personal technique by working with resin and glass to obtain what he calls “his shards of life". A mature and accomplished painting, embodied by material, color, transparency and light.
On permanent exhibition in Mexico City after a year of artistic approach in the heart of this megalopolis, the “ciudad" appears as a filigram on all his works. For Philippe Viejo, the city of Frida Khalo symbolizes humanity very well; it can be wonderful and sometimes confusing.
Paintings of travel, journeys of painting, his paintings tell both the world outside and inside. The one the artist saw.
