This artwork is a vivid depiction of urban street art, blending graffiti with pop art influences. At the center stands a monochromatic figure resembling a famous personality holding a sign that reads, "Love is the Answer," creating a stark contrast against the colorful chaos of the background. The backdrop is a cacophony of vibrant graffiti, featuring eclectic phrases and symbols, including bright pinks, blues, and yellows, contributing to a dynamic visual impact. The repetition of Mickey Mouse motifs adds a playful yet subversive pop culture layer, provoking thoughts on consumerism and media. Splashes and drips of paint enhance the artwork's raw, unrefined energy. This piece not only captures the rebellious spirit of street art but also delivers a poignant message of love amidst societal noise, showcasing a unique interplay between chaos and clarity in modern visual expression.

The unique artwork “Einstein" from 2021 by US-american street artist Mr. Brainwash is regarded as one of the main motives of him. It is hardly surprising that the artist chose this personality for his originals and unique pieces. The famous scientist Einstein was also known for his great sense of humor. Who doesn't know the photo with the stretched out tongue? The “Tongue Picture" by Einstein was taken on the occasion of his 72nd birthday, on 14 March 1951 in Princeton. On this special day, Einstein was repeatedly harassed by photographers. After all, Einstein was a media star and journalists wanted to hear what the great physicist and Nobel Prize winner had to say about world politics.

But Einstein was repulsed by all the media hype. When he left the party after lunch, he could not escape the cameras. He had already taken a seat in the back of the limousine.

Frank Aydelotte was waiting on his left, his wife Marie on his right. Again and again Einstein said: “It's enough, it's enough…", but the paparazzi didn't let up. Fully aware of the consequences, he stuck his tongue out at the amazed photographer Arthur Sasse with his mischievous laugh. He pressed the shutter release and the photo was taken that would go around the world.

A little later he told his then secretary and lover, Johanna Fantova: “The outstretched tongue reflects my political views". By this he meant specifically the situation in the America of McCarthy espionage and accusations. In the background of the work have been used as usual for Mr. Brainwash various stencils so the work give your unique character. The main motif with Einstein is always the same, as graffiti artists also transport your stencil from place to place to position your artwork on different walls. The background varies each time. Mr. Brainwash often features motifs from Keith Haring, Andy Warhol or the Marvel Comics. Often also one of Mr. Brainwash's mottoes like “Life is Beautiful" or “Follow your dreams". A few works feature Cement as the support material.

The motif of Einstein can also be found subtly on the wall as graffiti in the Mr. Brainwash Edition of the VW Beetle. On October 14th 2010, an Einstein by Mr. Brainwash was sold in London at the Contemporary Art Day Sale at Phillips in London at a selling price of £75,650. (105,000 USD).

Hardly any other street artist has experienced such a rapid rise as the Frenchman Thierry Guetta aka Mr. Brainwash, born in 1966 in Garges-lès-Gonesse. His path to becoming the most successful artist of recent years is closely linked to the name Banksy and his Oscar-winning film Exit Through the Gift Shop: In this documentary, the then unknown Mr. Brainwash is inspired to become active as an artist himself under the pseudonym Mr. Brainwash. The film received numerous prizes and awards. Many sold out shows and Mr. Brainwash exhibitions followed after the movie untill today. In 2023, the Mr. Brainwash Art Museum opened in Los Angeles. In winter 2025/2026, as every year, unique pieces by Mr. Brainwash will be shown in the exhibition in Kitzbuhel at FRANK FLUEGEL GALERIE.

Mr Brainwash, Einstein - Follow your Heart
United States  • 1966

Presentation

Mr Brainwash, the pseudonym for Thierry Guetta was born near Paris, in Sarcelles in 1966. At the age of 15, he moved to Los Angeles with his father, brothers, and sisters after their mother passed away. A video maker and pop art artist, his works are mostly in stencil or graffiti.

He took lessons at Fairfax High school for about a year but dropped out of high school to organize Hollywood events. The artist began selling vintage clothes in Los Angeles, New York, and Miami.

Mr Brainwash had a ticking in 1999 for street art, during a trip to France to visit his cousin, Space Invader, a Parisian street artist. He has a passion for video and therefore began filming all the breaks, accompanied by other street artists, like Shepard Fairey or Wevs. At this moment, the videos weren't meant to be seen. He began graffiti and became Mr Brainwash. His universe is made up of Banksy's stencils and images of Andy Warhol.

In 2009, he met the British artist Banksy and helps him launch his exhibition: Barely Legal in Los Angeles, this event attracted celebrities and art dealers. The two artists decided to realize a documentary on the world of street artists, which was a mystery up till now. The images which were shot before were then shown along with Invader, Banksy, and Mr Brainwash.

Due to this collaboration, the doc-fiction “Exit Through the Gift Shop" (ou Faites le Mur !) was born, nominated for an Oscar, presented in 2010 at the Sundance Film Festival. The film presents the meteoric rise of Mr. Brainwash on the street art scene, and his works being sold for phenomenal sums, like his Jim Morrison portrait sold for 100 000 $ or Charlie Chaplin for 50 000 $. After the movie's success, Mr Brainwash's work becomes much more popular.

But the story can be seen the other way around. It was shown that Mr Brainwash isn't a fictitious character, he did put together the movie. The fiction caught up with reality, making Mr Brainwash a true actor in the art industry.

In 2024, French-American street artist Mr. Brainwash continued to captivate audiences worldwide with his dynamic and vibrant artworks. His "Life Is Beautiful" exhibition, held at the Mr. Brainwash Art Museum in Beverly Hills, California, showcased a diverse collection of his iconic pieces, attracting art enthusiasts and collectors alike.

Looking ahead to 2025, Mr. Brainwash is set to participate in the London Art Fair, scheduled from January 22 to 26, 2025. This prestigious event will feature a curated selection of contemporary artworks, providing a platform for artists to present their latest creations to an international audience. Attendees can anticipate engaging with Mr. Brainwash's innovative pieces, reflecting his unique style and artistic vision.
