Béatrice Burel

Visual artist from Le Havre born in 1981, works in Rouen.
Graduated from the Faculty of Arts of Amiens, master in 2004, between self-taught approach and artistic education.
From a very young age, she has been drawn to drawing: daughter of a surveyor father, granddaughter of painter-amateur grandfathers, industrial designer and a great-grandfather who was a sailor, boat model maker and painter of the sea... art runs through her veins… by joining the Faculty of Arts in Amiens, she turned to painting. More precisely towards the explorations of materials: all the materials are crushed, pressed, printed, mixed, confronted; everything becomes a pretext to be explored, even the so-called industrial paints and construction materials that she recovers such as coating, concrete, glycerophtalic, polyurethane varnish... The materials are recycled and reused to meet a vital need for painting . She seeks through different processes the balance of the masses but always in a quest for the objective truth of the material, as if to better return to its origins; the WATER element is the basis of his work, the main element that unites all the materials between them. Béatrice Burel offers a look at the human, philosophical and even spiritual positioning of matter. Are we not above all beings of matter composed of 65% water? Main constituent of the human body and of our planet, materials transform and unite so that the “Beauty of our world" appears: universal and original visions are born. This is what animates her in the depths of herself.
For her, the artist has a role to play in the city: to enrich his art, he must give of himself and put himself to the test. This allows him to question himself. And her ability to adapt to the materials she encounters, even the toughest materials, echoes her ability to adapt to support patients suffering from sometimes serious mental pathologies: because since 2008, she has been working in a psychiatric hospital environment and supervises several art workshops, convinced that, like materials, all individuals must be considered for what they are in order to bring out the best in themselves.
Since 2005, she has exhibited in France and abroad, notably in Portugal, Luxembourg, Belgium, Italy, China, and in the United States where she has collaborated with several New York and Californian galleries. It obtained its international listing following an international specialized sale in art for emerging talents (La Criée des Arts) allowing it to be referenced in the Gazette de Drouot, Artprice/Artmarket. In 2022, she obtains her official AKOUN certification.
