Presentation
Youngmi Kim is a French artist of Korean origin. After a Masters in Fine Arts pedagogy in Seoul, she continued her studies in France with a Masters in Plastic Arts at the University of Lille then a DEA in Plastic Arts at the University of Strasbourg.
The material is an essential element of his work. The thickness of the touches of paint expresses his feelings about the concept of "Wall". The Wall divides 2 worlds, an interior and an exterior, like the mental world versus the physical world.
The texture games are inspired by the deterioration of walls during the Korean Civil Wars. It is as if Kim repainted all these damaged walls, one by one, in order to give them a second life, happy, harmonious and peaceful, the importance of which is exacerbated by the emotions of the memory.
It is the materialization of the hope that humanity looks towards a peaceful and harmonious future.
Her paintings are staging of symbolic and subjective objects that evoke play, fantasy, poetry, dreams and irony, which she expresses by freeing her mind.
