Legend has it that an Emu ancestor and a wild turkey ancestor came to Ngarlikirlangu to collect wild grapes (solanum centrale) in order to crush them to make balls of fruit paste (kapurdu) that they could thus keep in their nests for consume them during the dry season. But the two ancestors were jealous of each other, especially the emu who considered that the turkey took the juiciest fruits and left him only the most bitter ones.
The emu took advantage that the turkey had left for its harvest in order to take revenge and destroy the food reserves it had built up. When the turkey returned, she found her kapurdu destroyed. The two ancestors engaged in a mythical fight that the Aborigines replay during the male initiation ceremonies. Defeated, the turkey had to fly north.
The arrow shapes represent, seen from the sky, the footprints of the Emu around nests containing eggs. The other symbols represent shields, spears, throwing sticks but also humans (“U” shapes) sitting on the ground.
Work supplied with the certificate of authenticity given by the artistic cooperative of which the artist belongs as well as a certificate issued by Stéphane Jacob, expert in aboriginal art and member of the National Chamber of Experts Specialized in Works of Art and Collectibles (CNES).
This aboriginal painting is placed on a wooden frame, it can be presented in any sense.
