Description

"Cubic Mood" by the renowned Ukrainian artist Viktor Konotopsky is a dynamic composition inspired by the Constructivist and Cubo-Futurist experiments of Lyubov Popova. The painting features sharp geometric forms, contrasting planes of saturated red, black, and ochre, and fragmented spatial dimensions. Floating symbols—letters and musical notations—create a sense of coded energy, drawing the viewer into a multi-layered visual rhythm. Konotopsky captures the essence of movement, tension, and abstraction, using color and form as emotional triggers rather than representational tools. The piece reflects the restless pulse of the modern world, where logic and chaos coexist in a delicate architectural balance. Through "Cubic Mood," the artist expresses the inner architecture of thought—a fragmented yet structured landscape of emotion, sound, and industrial power.
Presentation
Viktor Konotopsky was born in 1967 in the village of Maleshkovka, Nedrigailovsky district, Sumy region.
Graduated from the Kharkiv State Art School and the Faculty of Arts of the Saratov State Pedagogical University named after Makarenko.
Worked as a drawing and drafting teacher, and an artist in the advertising field.
In the 90s, he lived and worked in Poland (Krakow and Szczecin) and St. Petersburg.
Viktor had many temptations to catch some fashionable artistic disease, but he remained himself.
Judging his painting by the standards of world artistic fashion is as absurd as declaring love with the memorized words of a popular literary hero. In this sense, it is naive, but the naivety of a professionally educated person. His paintings are realistic, although stylized. The landscapes are easily recognizable, but they contain a generalization leading to an image.
