The Height of June, 2026

Olena Kishkurno

Part of the artist's ongoing  series,  explores the emotional resonance of nature and the way landscape becomes intertwined with memory, perception, and inner experience.

Deep crimson, carmine, magenta, and luminous pink tones unfold across the surface, evoking the sensation of a garden at the peak of summer. Rich layers of red create a vibrant and immersive atmosphere where flowers, foliage, light, and memory merge into a single expressive field of color.

Rather than depicting a specific landscape, the painting captures the emotional experience of nature in full bloom. The dominant red palette suggests vitality, abundance, warmth, and the overwhelming energy of midsummer. Crimson and magenta passages pulse throughout the composition, while translucent whites introduce light, air, and movement. Forms emerge and dissolve within the painterly surface, creating a landscape that feels both tangible and dreamlike.

The visual language of the work draws on contemporary impressionism and abstract landscape painting. Rather than describing nature directly, the artist focuses on atmosphere, sensation, and the shifting perception of color and light. Gestural brushwork, layered transparency, and rhythmic movement transform the landscape into an emotional space where observation, memory, and feeling become inseparable.

The Height of June reflects a fleeting moment when nature reaches its fullest expression — a point of maximum bloom, intensity, and radiance. Through its luminous red palette and energetic surface, the painting invites the viewer to experience the beauty, warmth, and abundance of summer at its peak.
