Before venturing into professional painting, Amir Soghrati was renowned as a caricaturist. He achieved the supreme prize at the International Caricature Festival of Outstanding Characters in Romania and secured the third position in the list of the 101 best cartoonists globally, as chosen by the Legal Network of World Cartoonists in the same year. However, for specific reasons, he transitioned away from caricature and concluded his last caricature exhibition in 2007 before embarking on his journey as a painter.
Through his journalistic endeavors, Amir Soghrati initiated research, criticism, curating, as well as cultural management and art consulting. Notably, he served as the president of the Association of Iranian Painters and assumed the role of editor-in-chief at the Tandi Biweekly Magazine of Visual Arts. Furthermore, he founded projects such as "Gallery Exploring," "Studio Exploring," "Newswrite," and "Incidentwrite."
His diverse activities include serving as the director of the research conference at the 7th Tehran International Sculpture Symposium and directing the Council for Policy and Selection of Works of Art in the second course of A Gallery on the Scope of a City. Amir Soghrati is also a member of the Visual Arts Council of the Iranian Artists Forum, the Council for the Introduction of Iranian Artists to the 2019 Venice Biennale, and the Contemporary Culture Art Group of the Iranian Encyclopedia.
In the realm of curatorial work, Amir Soghrati has curated 8 exhibitions focusing on contemporary Iranian art in both Paris and Tehran. Additionally, he is an accomplished author, with 13 published art books to his credit. Some of his notable works include "Standing Among Chaos and Beauty, Interview with Ali Nasir," "Bright Memory of History; Life and Works of Mohammad Rafie Ziaei," and "Passionate about Solitude; Life and Works of Kioomars Kiasat."
