Artwork location: Austria

The artwork depicted is a vivid, thought-provoking piece that captures an urban landscape in turmoil. At the forefront, a large figure clad in green appears to be in motion, carrying a washing machine against a backdrop of chaos. The absurdity of this action juxtaposes sharply against the destruction surrounding it, drawing attention to the nonsensical pursuits often seen in times of crisis. Buildings in the background are ablaze, with intense, expressive brush strokes illustrating the flames and destruction. The structures on either side appear dilapidated, with some partially collapsed, evidencing recent calamity. This environment suggests a scene of conflict or disaster, where normalcy has been upended. In the midground, smaller figures are scattered, suggesting disorder and disarray. One figure, also in motion, clutches an object tightly while a car in the scene carries more items suggestive of household goods. This imagery possibly critiques the irrationality of looting amid disaster, emphasizing how ordinary actions become absurd in extraordinary circumstances. Notably, the color palette of the artwork is bright yet chaotic – with dominant shades of yellow in the foreground, lending an almost surreal quality to the scene. Flames are rendered in fierce red and orange hues, contrasting starkly with the blue-gray of the crumbling buildings, establishing a sense of urgency and despair that evokes a visceral response from the viewer. Additionally, a whimsical element is introduced through a dog in the lower right, which adds a touch of bizarre normalcy amidst the chaos. Above the dog, a smaller figure, possibly a child, struggles with an oversized object, enhancing the sense of scale disparity in the piece. The artist employs bold outlines and a somewhat naive, almost childlike, aesthetic. This stylistic choice may serve to underscore the absurdity and tragic irony of the situation being depicted. The inscription in the bottom right of the artwork, though partially obscured, adds to the narrative, providing a personal context or commentary from the artist. This painting is a stark and engaging critique of human behavior in times of crisis, masterfully combining elements of absurdity and destruction to deliver a powerful visual narrative.

Presentation

My paintings are painting with deliberate carelessness in various cases. It can be abstract or figurative painting, but I like to see how the colors and shapes fall on the canvas. Bringing the inner state to the outside, in silhouettes and colors, is my main task. I like semantic contrasts, when serious and scary things are presented in a naive way, and something unimportant is adored and brought up for inspection.

I am inspired by everything strange and beautiful. Fascinatingly primitive and intentionally random. I am constantly looking for unusual combinations of colors, shapes and symbols that give birth to new, deeper symbols or feelings.

The most important thing for me is the inner state of the viewer. What does he feel when he looks at my paintings? This is the main question. How does the idea respond? Is the viewer simply enjoying the color scheme, as if listening to music?

The main message is a different internal state of a person. The idea is to switch the person into a new state that they like or fear.

My works are born by themselves. An idea arises in the head, which can be got rid of in only one way - to express it on canvas. Personally, it is a relief for me when I stop thinking about it and can calmly consider what has turned out.
