In Grandpa, Stéphane LMBD revisits the figure of the patriarch with a bold and contemporary graphic approach. Dominated by a vibrant pink background, the work juxtaposes symbolic elements and stylized characters, creating a fragmented yet evocative narrative.
In the center, a geometric figure with a lost gaze seems frozen in a pose somewhere between authority and vulnerability. His arm stretched out toward a tripod recalls an imposing presence, a landmark in family history. Around him, enigmatic symbols: a large, observant eye, a figure enclosed in a frame, a round, candid silhouette (a grandson) contrasting with the angular features of the main character.
The artist plays with the codes of memory and transmission, blending abstraction and narrative to evoke the imprint left by past generations. Through this visual dialogue, it emerges as a meditation on memory, heritage, and the image we retain of our elders.
