This work is the first in a series entitled “Nature" and here represents a balanced stack of raw aluminum pebbles. In this modern representation of Rock balancing, I depict the fragility and instability of such a sculpture in opposition to the solidity and stability of metal. This echoes nature, which forms a completely autonomous and stable whole as soon as man stands aside, but which can collapse in an instant as soon as he intervenes. I created this work from real pebbles that I molded, then assembled and fixed together. 3 styles of finishes are visible on the different pebbles, from glossy to brushed to matte. Below the work, I cast a part in black resin in which the brass number is integrated. My signature is also engraved below directly by hand in the aluminum.
This work features an installation of precariously yet harmoniously stacked pebbles, highlighting the delicate balance between nature and artifice. Placed on a carpet of green moss, the sculpture blends seamlessly into the natural setting of a dense forest, with a peaceful stream visible in the background. Each pebble, with its smooth, reflective curves, appears to defy the laws of gravity, evoking a sense of calm and meditation. The use of metallic materials to mimic the texture of natural stones creates a striking contrast, emphasizing the duality between the organic and the manufactured. This work inspires reflection on how art and nature can coexist in perfect harmony, offering a visual spectacle that is as fragile as it is inspiring.
