The Ikebana vase is an ode to a ritual.

And a memory of a place you'll remember forever once you've seen it.

The Japanese art of ikebana has always been hypnotizing for me. Not because of the rules, but because of its core: you need to slow down, carefully choose flowers - by your own sense of harmony - and shape the environment to fit your state of mind.

Nowadays we run so much, and I think we need these rituals even more.

To stop.

To breathe.

To contemplate - ourselves, the world, life.

I wanted to create a piece for this - something that would awaken that intention, that would inspire. I shaped a true cliff and filled it with a glaze reminiscent of lagoon water.

A fragment of the Mediterranean coast of your own - to hold your arrangements or to satisfy the eye just as it is.

I make each piece by hand from special stoneware clay with large chamotte. The opening is shaped by breaking the edge, letting the clay decide its own line. When it's dry, I sand it to reveal the rough yet even texture. Inside, it's glazed twice with this shifting blue-green finish, while the exterior stays raw and soft to the touch.

Height: 12 centimeters | 5 inches

Diameter: 25 centimeters | 10 inches

This design is repeatable, but no two pieces are ever the same.

Presentation

I am Hurry Pottery.
My real name is Diana, but when I stepped into ceramics, I stepped into another layer of learning myself. I had lived my whole life in a rush — and clay taught, and still teaches me, not to. Clay showed me life doesn't have to be that way.
I reflect that change in my name: short, punchy, familiar to the ear
Hurry — as a reminder not to (and perhaps to remember my rushing roots), and Pottery as a last name — because it became my life.
This discipline is my way of communication — a language I have always needed to create.

I was born and raised in Ukraine, and moved to Barcelona in 2022. That change, unexpected and unwanted, became the start of a new life — the life of Hurry Pottery.

I create because beauty matters — I want to make objects that satisfy the eye. But beauty is only the surface. My work is about the nature of human consciousness and the environment that shaped it. Nature was the beginning of us, the force that formed who we are. Only later did humans shift positions and begin shaping nature in return. This is why my work is rooted in nature: it is both our origin and the mirror that continues to define us.

For me, the beauty of nature is something to be celebrated. Life moves quickly, no moment ever stands still. And the human mind is built to save memories, but holding onto a natural moment — a light, a texture, a fleeting feeling — is fragile, almost impossible to put into words. This is where my ceramics take over: they preserve what usually disappears, turning the temporary into something that can be held. Sometimes it's the rhythm of dunes, sometimes the Mediterranean caught inside a vase.
Always, it begins with a moment of nature, rephrased.
