Salim Karami (uncle Salim) was born in Rasht (a city north of Iran) in 1946. Painting was not an obsession for him until sixty. In 1996 he made his first paintings at the back of the advertising posters with pen, the paintings which were created illiterately and thoroughly instinctively, based on his trainings in nature. For the first time, uncle Salim exhibited his works in “Ou” gallery in Rasht in 2008. In 2011 his second exhibition was in “Marlik” gallery in Rasht, and in 2013 the third solo show called “The Eden collection” was held in Homa art gallery in Tehran. Uncle Salim won the honor diploma, the icon and monetary reward in the 8th national biennial of Iran painting.
He suffered from renal insufficiency for many years, and after the kidney transplant surgery he still towed the complications of the illness. Uncle Salim challenged with cancer for the last months of his life, and finally after enduring the defect, on the 25th of February 2013 he passed away.

Sahalim Karami est né à Rasht, au nord-ouest de l’Iran. Ce n'est qu'à l'âge de soixante ans que la peinture devient une obsession. Il a fait son premier travail au stylo en 1996, au dos d’une affiche publicitaire. Les travaux qui ont été créées de manière instinctive et illettrée, en se basant sur sa formation. Pour la première fois, Salim a exposé ses œuvres dans la galerie "Ou" à Rasht en 2008. En 2011, sa deuxième exposition a eu lieu à la galerie "Marlik" à Rasht, et en 2013, la troisième exposition solo intitulée "The Eden collection" a eu lieu à Téhéran. Il a obtenu le diplôme d'honneur, l'icône et la récompense monétaire lors de la 8ème biennale nationale de la peinture iranienne.
Il a souffert d'insuffisance rénale pendant de nombreuses années et, après la transplantation rénale, il a encore remorqué les complications de la maladie. Il est mort d'un cancer le 25 février 2013.

Salim Karami was born in Rasht, northwestern Iran. It was not until the age of sixty that painting became an obsession. He did his first pen work in 1996, on the back of an advertising poster. His works were created instinctively and illiterate, based on his training. For the first time, Salim exhibited his works in the "Ou" gallery in Rasht in 2008. In 2011, his second exhibition was held at the "Marlik" gallery in Rasht, and in 2013, the third solo exhibition titled "The Eden collection "took place at the Homa gallery in Tehran. He obtained the diploma of honor, the icon at the 8th National Biennial of Iranian Painting.

He suffered from kidney failure for many years and had to undergo a kidney transplant. He died of cancer on February 25, 2013.
