"Parallel Lives" is a plea for rain in a hot, dry place. It is a new addition to Ms. Crosby's ongoing "Rain On Water" Series, which explores not only the hope for rain, but is also an exploration of the layers always present in water: the sky is reflected in the surface of the water, showing small hints of blue as the last drops of rain fall and the sky begins to clear; the raindrops interrupt the water's surface, ripples causing distortions to the water and to the reflections in it; the current under the surface of the pond pulls at the reflections on the surface further; the tree trunks' reflections block the reflection of the stormy sky, so the viewer can see down to the bottom of the pond. "Parallel Lives" is also a comment on the way two may live together, but grow differently, react differently, and may affect each other. Together but separate, together but individual. This piece comes with an official certificate of authenticity signed by the artist. Ready to Hang .Signature Location: partial on front full on back.

Presentation

Artist Statement:

I paint transitions in nature, breathing room for both eyes and mind to rest. My work focuses on subtle shifts in time, the spaces in-between: the last drops of rain as the storm passes over; the dawn dew on the web; the egg shell after the bird has flown. I hope my paintings invoke memories of such tiny, miraculous details – the light, the scents, the sounds that encapsulate those singular, quiet moments.
