Color was not given to us to imitate nature. It was given to us so that we could express our emotions.
Women are better adapted to pain than men. They live on emotions, only think about emotions.

If art which only gives sensations is an inferior art, it is because analysis does not often unravel in a sensation anything other than this sensation itself. But most emotions are pregnant with a thousand sensations, feelings or ideas which penetrate them: each of them is therefore a unique state of its kind, indefinable, and it seems that we would have to relive the life of the person who experiences it to embrace it in its complex originality.

Presentation

Self-taught painter, Charlotte Lecoanet comes from a family of artists where sensitivity has educational value. From an interior decorator father, a stylist aunt and a fashion designer uncle, it was therefore natural that she turned to artistic studies. He is enthusiastic about the creative community.

During her year of BTS graphic design, she blackened sketch on sketch. These are his years of apprenticeship, allowing him to survey the territories of an ambivalent world where touches of freshness do not hesitate to blend into a more distressing whole.

She also goes on trips abroad where the discovery and the richness of other cultures excites her.

It is in 2007 that she realizes, alone, her first painting exhibition and discovers that her work arouses a lot of interest. From the opening, his works were in great demand and encouraged him to continue on this artistic path.

Other exhibitions will confirm to him that real exchanges can thus be established with a public sensitive to his vision as an artist. The choice of medium, paint, is obvious. His representations vary, change according to his desires and his sensitivity.

In 2020, portraits of different cultures constitute a large part of his work. This choice is imposed on her. Nothing is defined in advance, a face that inspires, and realize it in the image of the unconscious. Work on the feelings, the human, the expression .... work for the development of oneself, for itself and the others. These portraits, most of them female, are a reflection of herself, the reflection of her soul, of her emotions.

Instinct, the raw aspect, taking the upper hand in terms of lines, graphic effects and composition. The colors expertly intermingle with spontaneity according to the emotions expressed. Fast and energetic, she works in a single spray. The real is modified and only becomes a staging, a pretext for the confrontation of a face to face.

Besides, she likes to quote this sentence of the architect Josef Albers: "with a minimum of means, a maximum of efficiency". It is a very beautiful material of inspiration for her, allowing to take possession of reality by a sensitive observation of others.

It is indeed his deep and intimate nature that shines through in his works; terrible and exhilarating laid bare. It is then that the external and subjective eye of the spectator can imagine the story, its own story because the art of the portrait is only a story of meeting… For Charlotte Lecoanet, being an artist is a way of being which is the most difficult in the world, but the most rewarding there is.
