This bold and dynamic artwork features a captivating mix of geometric and organic shapes. The painting is distinguished by its vivid use of contrasting colours and distinct patterns. Vibrant tones of yellow and green dominate the background, creating a bright and energetic atmosphere. However, what makes this work truly unique is the bold juxtaposition of abstract shapes and figurative strokes. A set of thick black lines structures the painting, framing shapes and objects that appear to float freely in the pictorial space. The elements of the scene evoke feelings of movement and interaction, as if each component plays a role in a complex visual choreography. At the heart of the composition, a series of motifs reminiscent of white branches or bones rise vertically, puncturing the bright yellow background. These elements contrast with a massive, angular pink shape, introducing a touch of humanity and softness to the abstract whole. Presentation
Alec Cumming graduated in 2007 from Norwich University of the Arts with a degree in Fine Art. He has enjoyed success with a number of major solo shows in London, throughout the UK and abroad. The artist works between studios in Norwich and Delhi.
In 2012, he was the youngest artist to have a solo exhibition with the British Council in India. At the India Art Fair 2016, he was selected as 'the one to watch' by the art critics alongside G R Iranna and Francesco Clemente. In 2017, Alec was selected for a Arts Council funded Residency with Dyad Creative in conjunction with Museums in India and the UK; in this space he made his monumental painting project 'Dialogues with India', a series of 4m long mural works considering material memory. In 2018, Alec will be showcasing some of this work in LA. Alec's work is held in private, public and corporate collections world-wide.
