The brick of the wall is a brick taken from the installation The Wall. On each brick, tree prints have been carefully placed to illustrate the fundamental human need to transform their natural environment. This incessant quest for construction and possession creates the illusion of being able to shape nature according to one's desires. Gradually, we nibble away at the space that belongs to nature, absorbing green spaces, fields, and forests. Even when construction is intended to be respectful, it permanently modifies the natural space, drawing on the earth's resources and altering the landscape. By acquiring isolated pieces of the module, we can modify this construction to the point of making it disappear. Thus, we move from the status of observer to that of actor in the work. Florence Vial likes to see a work disappear, because nothing is eternal and irremediable. The hand of man can destroy, but it can also repair, build, and erase its mistakes...
This fascinating work features a block-like sculptural structure, captivating with its raw, organic texture reminiscent of natural stone. The irregular surface is dotted with jagged holes, revealing a soft inner light that contrasts beautifully with the overall robust appearance. These openings create a vibrant play of light and shadow, imbuing the volume with a soothing and mystical dynamic. The composition rests on a simple base, highlighting its purity and exhilarating simplicity. This sculpture, free of superfluous details, artfully explores the duality between solid and void.
