Presentation
Artist Statement:
Some 25 years ago, I left the former USSR with one suitcase searching for new possibilities and came to Canada, Toronto. I can not even point the particular reason for this move. It could be as serious as a nuclear disaster in Chernobyl or simply a curiosity and longing for a different life. All is a matter that decision was made, I left the successful fashion designer position at Fashion Centre and got my first job in Toronto at the coat check in the local theater. My life was changed forever.
Today art and my life are intertwined. My desire to learn how to live in the moment, be present, and search for awareness is a lifelong quest that I cherish. It is a state of consciousness when I feel appreciation and humbleness, and interconnectedness with the universe that I strive to express in the process of the evolution of my art.
Perhaps, that is the reason why my work is so diverse-from landscapes to abstracts to fashion collages. I feel no mandate of a specific subject as an artist. We all a part of one, no matter how different we may seem, and the content is only a vehicle to convey the essence.
I am in awe of the gift of life and all the challenges that it presents. Nothing should be taken for granted. Understanding this makes me happy and gives me tremendous energy to deal with my busy, noisy days, my family, friends, and people around me. I want to share personal moments of enlightenment where life flow creates beauty and healing and inevitably and continual hope.
