Artist Statement:
I am visually stimulated by everything: patterns, colors, objects, figures, shapes, and life's aesthetic rhythms. My eye bolts to the dramatic and the bold. While working on a series of landscapes/waterscapes I used language to help me feel the space. This opened has me to new ways of thinking – allowing me to create a new sense of personal artistic language.
As a true colorist. I see color. Color comes to life for me, it is everything. My work is inspired by everyday life – the simple things that are presented to us in different ways. I am an observer and I look for the space between the obvious. I work effectively, tight and loose. My goal has been to merge these two ways of thinking into a personal consistency.
I am currently mixing the hard and soft elements and I am excited about where this is taking me. There are recurring images that cycle in and out of my work. Through the rhythms of my language paintings, I have generated a shorthand using movements and shapes to create energetic compositions. Color mixed with chaos and subject offers me endless possibilities.
