The performance is over and the leading ballerina is taking her final curtain call. She is on one knee, head bowed and her hands held to her chest. The audience are on their feet applauding and cheering. The stage light is focused on the ballerina. Roses are thrown onto the stage in appreciation by the ecstatic crowd. The atmosphere is electric

Presentation
I have a passion for live performances. It is here where the expectations, excitement, participation of the audience together with the sounds, aromas and temperature all contribute to the success and enjoyment of the event.
It is these sensual characteristics that I am trying to represent by the abstract way l apply the paint leaving a richly textured surface and yet there are elements of the figure for the viewer to enjoy. Hopefully the finished work triggers emotions and perhaps unlocks previous experiences long forgotten.
Peter was born 1954 in Liverpool and lived in the North of England prior to settling in Winchcombe, Gloucestershire.
It was in Liverpool where he received his training. As a member of the South Sefton Artists, a group of professional and semi-professional artists he received one to one tuition from the leading members.
Tuition was carried out in a life class environment, forty-eight weeks of the year fo four years and it was here that good draughtsmanship became important to Peter and forms the basis of his figurative and semi-abstract work.
Peter mainly works in Acrylic, oil and charcoal. He admires the old masters such as Caravaggio and Rembrandt along with Turner, Degas, Cezanne, Freud and Auerbach. His work can be found in private collections throughout the country and in Europe.
Peter has had numerous solo and mixed exhibitions and since 2013 has been represented by the Greenstage Gallery Worcestershire and more recently the Park Gallery Cheltenham. Both galleries hold his work. The Greenstage shows Peters work at the annual Bristol Art Fair and the Park at the Fresh Art Fair Cheltenham.
Peters work is admired for the bold use of paint and the textural nature of the finished piece.
