Through her artistic practice, Mélina Bismuth wonders about "Invu".

His photographic subject? The city and its "screens" that protect and hide looks: scaffolding tarpaulins, shop windows of whitewashed shops with Meudon white, dirty windows ... So many barriers between outside world and inner world, public and intimate.

However, in his photographic paintings, there is always a breakthrough, a perforation, a slit, a depth so that the gaze can cross, see beyond, get lost. And wonder.

To the point of triggering the movement. To enter the work, the spectator approaches and then moves away again because it shakes up perceptions. The damage of hundreds of images in the image offers a kinetic experience.

A world of oppositions opens when you observe carefully. Painting or photography? Fixed or animated work? Expression of sweetness or intensity?

His photographs, captured during her urban wanderings, constitute a palette of vibrant colors and modeling textures, without retouching. She searches for movement, "animal" through a dynamic of curves - while composing with square or rectangular modules.

His approach can be summarized by the word (re) build.

- On the one hand, his writing involves a long process of deconstruction (fragment the subject in time and space through serial shots over the years). Then reconstruction, by bringing together the photographs in a elaborate way.

- On the other hand, its subjects (ephemeral screens delimiting the border between external and interior worlds) hide a process of transformation, reconstruction. Metaphorically, it is a matter of regeneration and resilience.

His universe evokes the Wabisabi aesthetics. Scaffolding tarpaulins, whitened and scaled windows, dirty windows ... So many objects worn by time, dust, friction.

The question of time retained is also at stake, by the accumulation in the time of photographs of the same subject for example Beyond Words is made up of 5 years of shifts.

Mélina Bismuth's photographic practice is a research on reconstruction and regeneration. Through his digital assemblages, the omnipresent photographic subject - urban works - fades away. She recomposes her own reality, through an abstract and pictorial work, sensitive and timeless.

His large photographic assemblages are made from photographs of urban renovation sites. Scaffolding tarpaulins, closed shop windows whitewashed with Meudon white, reflections on the windows... so many screens that conceal the works and delimit the border between the interior world and the exterior world, worn by time, dust, friction.

His collection of thousands of photographs becomes a palette of colors and textures, a material to model.

The word "rebuild" sums up his artistic gesture. He goes through a long process of fragmenting hundreds of photographs, then of reconstruction (assembling them meticulously so as to bring out movement, relief, depth).

The final work is a pigment photographic print on matte paper. The spectator, seized by the movement of this surface which comes to life, wonders about the very nature of the work and thus about the limits between photography and abstract painting. He discovers by carefully observing this material, ephemeral, in degradation, sublimated.
