Lumières Volées is an exhibition of work by French artist Nathan Chantob. The work consists of nine portraits, nine strangers who seem familiar to us, nine moments in the life of a town in the north of France.
Like a contemporary altar, this composition bears witness to the martyrs of our time: in the wind, in the rain, in the gloom, hurrying to their destinations, they are just passing through our lives. The artist captures this furtive moment, freezing it on small 50x40 cm canvases to create a moving whole.
Another distinctive feature of this work is its composition: as the paintings can be purchased individually, the artist replaces them with new characters as she goes along. The whole is constantly renewed, incorporating the painter's new visions and creating an infinite fresco of urban life.
Created for the ‘Dialogue avec la foule’ exhibition at the Galerie de Buci in 2024, it continues its life today as a work-exhibition.
