Trevor Kiernander

Trevor Kiernander was born in Mississauga, Canada in 1975, and currently resides in Montreal, Canada. He earned his Bachelors in Fine Art, Major Painting & Drawing with Distinction from Concordia University in 2006, and earned his Masters in Fine Art, Art Practice, from Goldsmiths University of London in 2009. Whilst living in London, England between 2007-2014, he exhibited throughout the UK, and was part of projects and exhibitions in Germany, Russia, USA, Canada, and Morocco. Since returning to Montreal from England in 2014, he has maintained a full-time painting practice, and continues to exhibit nationally and internationally.

Always an active member of the artistic community where he lives, he co-created in London the artist-run space “ShopAt34", and was a member of Peer Sessions, a monthly critique group and educational support network for postgraduate artists, developing and maintaining a critical and theoretical dialogue of their artistic practices. Trevor was also involved with The Woodmill, a self-constructed provision of studios operating as a space for critical and practical development. Housed within a 40,000sqft ex-council building, the project started as a live-work space, eventually becoming studios for 100 artists, putting on exhibitions, events, and educational programs.

In September 2016, he held simultaneous solo exhibitions at both the McClure Gallery and Art Mûr, accompanied by a fully illustrated, bi-lingual catalogue, and recently exhibited as part of Off-Manif at Galerie Michel Guimont in Quebec City, part of Manif d'Art 8. In 2017, Trevor was selected for a residency at the Vermont Studio Centre and will be taking part in the Leipzig International Artists Program, for a four-month residency in November.

His paintings can be found in national and international collections, including CPOA du Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec, Concordia University, Conseil des arts de Montréal, Loto-Québec, Mouvement Desjardins, Toronto Dominion Bank, and the Université de Sherbrooke.
