Toyin Ojih Odutola

Toyin Ojih Odutola is a Nigerian-American visual artist. Born in Nigeria in 1985, she is currently based in Brooklyn. She completed her MFA at California College of the Arts. Ojih Odutola is known for her vibrant multimedia drawings which explore the plurality of identity. 

Ojih Odutola's work reinterprets traditional portraiture as she utilizes only the most basic of drawing materials (ballpoint pens, charcoal, pencils) to create infinitely complex images abound with intricate layers to depict her subject's skin. 

Ojih Odutola's drawings have been exhibited in several major global cities and belong to the collections of numerous institutions including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the National Portrait Gallery in London and the Whitney Museum of Art.
