Jay Kelly is an American born in 1961. After graduating from UCLA, he settled in Venice . He began his career in graphic design, but quickly established himself as a notable artist thanks to his unique figurative collages created from different materials to create a variety of tones and content. books, photos and magazines.
For his printed materials, he uses old magazines, novels, and art history books. He chooses to paint with paper to give his work a unique depth. His main goal is to convey emotion through his collages .
Kelly has exhibited in several prestigious galleries in the United States, including New York, Los Angeles, and international art fairs such as Art Basel Miami Beach. His recent solo exhibitions include “Organic Mechanisms" (2022) at ModernForm Gallery in Los Angeles, where he presented a series of works combining sculpture and painting on canvas, as well as “Urban Flora" (2021) in New York, a project that questions the coexistence between urban environments and wild nature. He has also participated in major group exhibitions, such as the biennial “Materiality and Memory" (2023) at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago.
