Political and historical Painting for Sale


History painting has been for centuries the noblest genre of painting. It was meant to depict and exacerbate the major historical events of a state, an age or a government, such as great battles, coronations of emperors or historical treaties. Today, political and historical painting is not at the service of authorities anymore, but rather a means to question the establishment and make people think of the abuses of governments and of the social issues of our time. Modernity witnessed the rise in popularity of the figure of the politically committed artist and today, numerous contemporary artists deal with political issues in their works. It is no surprise that in countries with a difficult political climate such as Russia or China artists produce a great number of works conveying powerful political and historical messages.
